Plot - “Igor” is a playfully irreverent comedy that brings a new twist to the classic monster genre. In a world filled with Mad Scientists and Evil Inventions, one talented evil scientist’s hunch-backed lab assistant has big dreams of becoming a Mad Scientist himself and winning the annual Evil Science Fair.

Reveiw - Igor is a poor movie in most respects that ends up being palatable due to some solid charm and the humor brought by the Scamper character. Not a good movie… but one you may find yourself enjoying watching nonetheless.

Plot - Lord Voldemort has returned to power, and his wrath has been felt in both the Muggle and Wizarding worlds. Severus Snape, long considered an enemy of Voldemort and a member of Dumbledore’s anti-Voldemort coalition, the Order of the Phoenix, meets with Narcissa Malfoy, mother of Draco and wife of Lucius, an imprisoned Death Eater. Snape makes an Unbreakable Vow to Narcissa, promising to protect her son, Draco.
 
Dumbledore heads to 4 Privet Drive to collect Harry from his aunt and uncle. On their way to the Burrow, Harry and Dumbledore stop to recruit Horace Slughorn to return to teaching at Hogwarts. Harry is reunited with his best friends, Ron and Hermione. When shopping for schoolbooks, Harry runs into Draco and follows him to Borgin and Burkes, where he overhears Draco threatening Borgin and insisting that he fix an unknown object. Harry is instantly suspicious of Draco, whom he believes to be a Death Eater, just like his father. The students return to school, and Dumbledore announces that Snape will be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts, much to Harry’s surprise.
 
Harry receives a used Potions textbook that once belonged to someone named “The Half-Blood Prince.” Spells and amendments are written in the margins of the book, and Harry uses the Prince’s notes to excel at Potions. Dumbledore schedules regular meetings with Harry in which they use Dumbledore’s pensieve to look at memories of those who have had direct contact with Voldemort. Dumbledore believes that if Harry can learn enough about Voldemort’s history, it will help him when they finally fight face to face, as the prophecy concerning Harry foretells. Harry learns about Voldemort’s family, including his grandfather Marvolo, his uncle Morfin, and his mother Merope, who cast a love spell on a Muggle and was abandoned by him when it wore off. Voldemort was left at an orphanage and grew to be an unpleasant and aggressive boy. Harry also learns that Voldemort has divided his soul into seven Horcruxes. Two of these, Tom Riddle’s diary and Marvolo’s ring, have already been destroyed. One resides in Voldemort, one resides in a snake, one is Merope’s locket, and the other two are suspected to be hidden in objects belonging to Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Gryffindor.
 
Ron acquires a new girlfriend, Lavender, of whom Hermione is extremely jealous. Harry feels stuck in the middle of his friends’ bickering. Eventually, Harry falls in love with Ginny, Ron’s sister, and Ron and Lavender break up, making Hermione quite happy. Harry spends much of his time keeping up with his duties as Quidditch captain and following Draco Malfoy. Harry uses his Marauder’s Map to keep track of Draco, but often cannot find him on the map. Eventually, Harry realizes that when Draco is not on the map, he is using the Room of Requirement on the seventh floor of Hogwarts, which transforms into whatever its user needs. Harry tries his best to get in to see what Draco is up to, but until he knows exactly what Draco is using the room for, he cannot gain access. Eventually Harry and Dumbledore leave Hogwarts together to fetch and destroy Merope’s locket, thus making Voldemort one step closer to mortal. They must overcome a variety of traps and challenges before reaching the basin where the locket is hidden under a poisonous potion. Dumbledore drinks the potion and Harry fights off Voldemort’s Inferi. They take the locket and return to Hogwarts as quickly as possible. Dumbledore is quite weak, and when they reach Hogsmeade they can see that the Dark Mark is visible above the astronomy tower.
 
Harry and Dumbledore rush toward the tower. When they arrive, Dumbledore uses his magic to freeze Harry in place, while Harry remains hidden by his cloak of invisibility. Draco Malfoy sprints into the room, threatening Dumbledore’s life. Weak and with his wand out of reach, Dumbledore stalls Draco, telling him that he is not a killer and that the Order of the Phoenix could protect him and his mother from Voldemort. Draco lowers his wand, and Snape pushes into the tower. Harry cannot move or speak, but he hears members of the Order fighting Death Eaters below. Snape raises his wand and kills Dumbledore, sending him flying over the edge of the tower. When Dumbledore dies, his spell on Harry is broken, and Harry rushes after Snape, determined to avenge the death of his friend and headmaster. Snape escapes, and Harry is devastated. He looks at the locket he and Dumbledore retrieved and realizes that it is not a Horcrux. Inside the locket is a note from someone named “R. A. B.” Harry tells his friends he will not be returning to Hogwarts next year and will instead search out and kill Voldemort by destroying all of the Horcruxes. Ron and Hermione vow to join him.

Plot - The sinister plans of Jigsaw continue in this next sequel of the “Saw” movies, with even bigger traps, such as the glass box trap, (which was originally planned to be used in Saw IV, but explored more in Saw V) and life and death situations, all of which we have come to suspect from the “Saw” films. “Saw V” hopes to put the misery out of anxious movie lovers, as it explains what happened to Corbett, the daughter of Lynn Denlon and Jeff Reinhart, following the conclusion of Saw III that left her in danger. While Billy the puppet and the red tricycle are further explained. Detective Hoffman also appears, continuing on from “Saw IV”, he is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy, but when his secret is under threat, he must go on the hunt to eliminate all the loose ends.
Reveiw - As With all the Saw films its shock factor and twisted traps that keep us glued to the screen. Compared to the other Saw films this one seems too twisty and complicated and pointless but with a suprise ending (you won’t belive how it ends), and a release date on haloween its sure to do well.

Plot - Sidney Young is a disillusioned intellectual who both adores and despises the world of celebrity, fame and glamour. His alternative magazine, Post Modern Review, pokes fun at the media obsessed stars and bucks trends, and so when Young is offered a job at the diametrically opposed conservative New York based Sharps magazine its something of a shock! It seems Sharps editor Clayton Harding is amused by Young’s disruption of a post-BAFTA party with a pig posing as Babe. Thus begins Sidney’s descent into success - his gradual move from derided outsider to confidante of starlet Sophie Maes - and a love affair with colleague Alison Olsen, that will either make him or break him.
Reveiw - This comedy is gunning to do for glossy magazines what The Devil Wears Prada did for fashion - and ends up shooting itself in the hand-stitched loafers. Based on Toby Young’s Brit-out-of-water memoirs as a showbiz reporter at Vanity Fair, its main problem is that it’s tricky to sympathise with a hero who is intentionally a super-smug, egotistical tit with a face that squeals ’slap me’. Even when he’s played by the ever-loveable Simon Pegg.

The plot starts, amusingly enough, with Sidney Young (Pegg), iconoclastic London magazine editor and wannabe celeb insider, trying to gatecrash the Baftas with a piglet - insisting he’s the handler for Babe (as in star of the eponymous film).
Said porker subsequently runs amok, ruining the party, but Sidney’s cheeky antics catch the eye of top US mag editor Clayton Harding (Jeff Bridges on top silver-fox form) who offers Sidney a job in New York.

Will Sidney sell his soul to the PR machine and write star puff pieces? Or will he bravely continue to slag off celebs? Ooh, why should we care? After all, dissing celebs hardly makes Sidney the Robin Hood of journalism.

From then on, despite chuckles aplenty, the film has an identity crisis. On the one hand, it’s not sharp enough as a satire on the high-gloss world of shallow celeb culture. On the other, it’s a surprisingly predictable romcom involving Sidney lusting for vacuous starlet Sophie (Megan Fox) before realising what he really wants is a real relationship with smart-tongued co-worker Alison (Kirsten Dunst).

Whenever in doubt, it plugs the gap with lazy, lowbrow slapstick involving animals and people falling off things. Annoyingly funny, a bit like Young himself.

Plot - Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is the chief instructor at the Southside Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Although a talented fighter, he refuses to compete in professional bouts: “Competition weakens the fighter.” Instead he trains dedicated students in the art of self-defense: bodyguards, cops, soliders. At his brother-in-law’s club one evening, Mike saves a famous action star, Chet Frank, (Tim Allen) from a severe beating. His defense of Frank leads to a job in the film industry, but other events conspire to force Mike to participate in a prize fight. An American samurai film set in the world of mixed martial arts, David Mamet’s “Redbelt” is a story about the limits of a single man’s integrity.

Reveiw - The biggest problem with this film is how quickly things turn around. The film clocks in at about 90 minutes or just a few minutes more and if it had been stretched out to two hours it really could have expanded on why Mike is the way he is and gradually moved into its second and third acts. However, Mike’s transition goes from a dedicated self-defense teacher, to a Hollywood producer to a UFC fighter. I mean, it’s ridiculous plot pacing and then there is a bit at the end that will have you scratching your head wondering, “Where did that come from?”

Truly, this film is a mind-boggler in the sense that you really want to enjoy it because the first half is quite strong with very good performances turned in by Ejiofor, Emily Mortimer, Alice Braga and even Tim Allen in a dramatic role. The pieces to a good story are all there, the morals are as well, its just how they are used and put together that turns this film into a mess as opposed to the decent flick it could have been.

Plot - Quantum of Solace continues the high octane adventures of James Bond in Casino Royale. Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M interrogate Mr White who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.
Forensic intelligence links an MI6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille, a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene, a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation, Quantum.
On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the worlds most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano. Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land. which is however a main source of the South American water supply. In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greenes sinister plan and stop Quantum getting its way.

Plot Summary:In 2012, the United States economy collapses and life for everyone is not the same. Once a NASCAR champion, Jensen Ames, (Jason Statham), hits rock bottom and spent several years in prison. His life was improving and changing for the better after meeting and marrying Suzy (Janaya Stephens) and having a baby girl. Then the steel mill closes, and he loses his job. But that was not the worst thing to happen to Jenson that day. Suzy is brutally murdered, and he is framed for her murder. Jenson is sent to Terminal Island, the worst and toughest for-profit prison in the country run by Warden Hennessey (Joan Allen). She has created the country’s most popular pay-per-view sport, a kill-or-be-killed car race where the inmates race to win their freedom from prison after 5 wins. Every inmate driver is driving a monster car that they built which is loaded with machine guns, missiles, flamethrowers, napalm, and no rules. Warden Hennessey convinces Jensen to secretly take the place of the late 4-time superstar winner, Frankenstein, and wear his metallic mask in the race. If Jensen wins just one race, he can go home to his baby daughter. To get to the finish line, Jensen must kill his competition before they kill him. Douglas Young (the-movie-guy)

Plot Summary:A commercial depicts rapper Alpa Chino (Brandon T. Jackson) promoting his two brands: the “Booty Sweat” energy drink and “Bust-A-Nut” candy bar, while performing his hit song, “I Love Tha’ Pussy”. The first trailer shows action star Tugg Speedman’s (Ben Stiller) latest film, ‘Scorcher VI: Global Meltdown’, a film so repetitive of it’s five predecessors that even the trailer narrator sounds shaky about it. Another trailer features funnyman Jeff “Fatty” Portnoy (Jack Black), playing the entirety of “America’s favorite obese family” in the highly flautlent ‘The Fatties: Fart 2′. The final trailer, entitled ‘Satan’s Alley’, features Australian “five-time Oscar winner” Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.) and Tobey Maguire (as himself) as two monks who begin an empassioned affair.

Plot Summary:Turk (Robert De Niro) and Rooster (Al Pacino) are partners in the NYPD Homicide Division. They have 30 years of service investigating murders, and before they pull the pin, they want to solve their last big case. The city has a serial killer who is targeting criminals who have fallen through the cracks of the judicial system and have gotten away with rape, murder, and other heinous crimes. The serial killer believes that he is helping the police by taking the scum of the earth out of society for good, never to hurt any law abiding citizens again. The serial killer shoots the criminal at very close-range and leaves a four-line poem justifying the execution. Turk and Rooster want to give this person a medal, but instead, they must arrest him before he kills again. Douglas Young (the-movie-guy)
